We’re proud to celebrate another impactful grant delivered to Anna Storbeck at Sarasota, Fla.'s Beyond the Spectrum. Anna plans to use funds these funds to start a school concession store to teach young adults essential job and life skills. This innovative project will provide hands-on experience in running a business, from inventory management to customer service and financial reporting.
As Anna explained in her application, “Teaching each individual the skills they need to be as independent as possible is life-changing not just for the individual but also for their families.”
The store will sell items such as coffee, smoothies, and snacks to teachers and students, with profits directly funding community outings for participants.
Beyond the Spectrum's young adult program focus heavily on teaching job and life skills. This year, the program will double its impact, serving 20 eager young adults who are ready to learn, grow, and find their purpose. By mastering skills like inventory control, sales, and financial reporting, participants will build resumes that set them on a path toward meaningful employment. Success will be tracked through monthly profit and loss sheets, weekly evaluations, and ultimately, job placements for students beyond the program.
We’re excited to support this “gift that keeps on giving” and can’t wait to see the incredible impact it will have on students and their families. Congratulations to Anna Storbeck and Beyond the Spectrum for empowering the next generation of independent, skilled young adults!
