THF grant will help support emotional growth at Jefferson Elementary School

We were excited to visit Jefferson Elementary School in Morton, Illinois today to deliver a THF grant to school social worker Kelly Hobson. Kelly works closely with K-2 special education teachers to co-teach weekly social and emotional lessons tailored to the students' needs. Her innovative approach utilizes Conscious Discipline and mindfulness techniques, which she plans to enhance with the grant funds.

THF grant supports students' emotional growth at Jefferson Elementary School.

"The materials purchased will impact students in special education that I work with on a daily basis by giving them a better understanding of feelings, self-regulation strategies, and positive problem-solving skills," Kelly shared in her grant application.

The funds will be used to purchase supplemental materials for her Conscious Discipline curriculum and a new mindfulness curriculum. These resources will not only enrich the weekly lessons but also provide continuous reinforcement of the concepts in the classroom. By equipping her students with tools to manage their emotions and develop positive behaviors, Kelly aims to create a lasting impact on their social and emotional growth.

We’re proud to support Kelly’s mission of proactive and evidence-based intervention, addressing the rising social and emotional needs of young learners. Stay tuned as we follow the progress of this incredible initiative and the lives it touches.
