We are thrilled to announce we delivered a grant to Beyond the Spectrum, a Sarasota, Fla.-based nonprofit education center dedicated to enriching the lives of neurodiverse students through innovative educational experiences. Grant funds will be used to introduce adaptive and interactive musical instruments into classrooms, creating a new avenue for sensory regulation and self-expression.
“Music is known for having calming effects while creating opportunities for self-expression, and we are excited to integrate those aspects into our programs,” Loryn Carpenter wrote in the school's application.
The grant will fund instruments designed to meet the diverse sensory and behavioral needs of students, enabling them to enjoy scheduled music activities guided by teachers and assistants. These sessions will provide meaningful sensory input, helping students regulate their sensory systems during the school day while fostering socio-emotional growth.
Music time will be incorporated weekly and tracked through communication logs, quarterly progress reports, and parent-teacher conferences. Loryn envisions this program building self-confidence, self-initiative, and communication skills, all while creating joyful and enriching experiences.
We are honored to support this incredible initiative that highlights the transformative power of music. Congratulations to the entire team at Beyond the Spectrum!
